Distribution Center Clerk

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Driving fabricated material and tools between jobsites
  • Basic vehicle maintenance such as checking oil and changing wipers.
  • General shop clean-up and organization
  • Plans and completes an efficient delivery and pick up route for the day.
  • Loads delivery vehicle with parcels scheduled for delivery.
  • Picks up parcels along the scheduled route, including items to be returned, company orders, and other items as requested.
  • Ensures that delivery vehicle receives basic service according to maintenance schedule; reports larger service needs and mechanical issues to supervisor.
  • Assists in general warehouse duties when assigned tasks are completed.
  • Receives shipments efficiently, accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintains records of goods that have been ordered and corresponding shipping dates.
  • Reports major shipping problems to purchasing agent.
  • Inspects shipments to confirm that products received matches specifications.
  • Maintains business relationships with suppliers to ensure their assistance if an unexpected event occurs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to drive large trucks.
  • Ability to move materials weighing up to 35 lbs. with or without accommodation.
  • Responsible
  • Willing to learn.
  • Ability to drive safely.
  • Ability to use navigation tools such as onboard GPS, smartphone apps, and/or web-based or physical maps.
  • Ability to plan delivery routes.
  • Ability to maintain basic logs and records.
  • Ability to carry out a series of instructions without constant supervision.
  • Ability to remain professional and courteous at all times.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Education and Experience

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Forklift experience preferred.
