Granger School District Phase I

Granger School District is located in rural eastern Washington in the southern Yakima valley.

They serve approximately 1500 students at the Early Childhood Education Program, Roosevelt Elementary, Granger Middle School, and Granger High School. They have over 200 dedicated teaching and support staff members who strongly believe that all children can reach their highest potential to become contributing globally literate citizens.

The Granger School District came to Apollo in search of ways to help them use ESSER Funding to help resolve some needs at the Middle School and Elementary School. Early on it became clear that there were some significant improvements in the reliability of systems and equipment while also increasing the amount of ventilation and airflow. The list of projects that Apollo took on in this phase of work consisted of:

  • Granger Middle School Boiler and Pump Retrofit: Replace the existing 22-year-old Ajax hot water boiler and its pumps with (2) premium efficiency, Lochinvar Condensing Hot Water Boilers sized at 60% of the peak heating load and a primary/secondary variable volume hot water pumping system. The heating system will be controlled with the Automated Logic Digital Control System.
  • Granger Middle School Chiller and Pump Retrofit: Replace the existing Trane air-cooled chiller and chilled water pump with an energy-efficient air-cooled chiller and primary variable volume chilled water pumping. The cooling system will be controlled with the Automated Logic Digital Control System.
  • Granger Middle School HVAC and Controls System Retrofit: Replace all existing 4-Pipe Fan Coil Units and Gymnasium AHU with new units. Replace all existing dampers with new dampers and actuators. Install all new controls on the fan coil units and Gym AHU, and install new Locker Room Heat Recovery Units.
  • Roosevelt Elementary School Boiler and Pump Retrofit: Replace the existing 22-year-old Ajax hot water boiler and its pumps with (2) premium efficiency, Lochinvar Condensing Hot Water Boilers sized at 60% of the peak heating load and a primary/secondary variable volume hot water pumping system. The heating system will be controlled with the Automated Logic Digital Control System.
  • Roosevelt Elementary School Chiller and Pump Retrofit: Replace the existing Trane air-cooled chiller and chilled water pump with an energy-efficient air-cooled chiller and primary variable volume chilled water pumping. The cooling system will be controlled with the Automated Logic Digital Control System.
