Clarkston School District Phase I

Each year, Clarkston’s schools open their doors to approximately 2,500 students. Their award-winning schools are led by outstanding administrators and caring staff whose focus is on the whole child. Each child is challenged to achieve his or her maximum potential through access to the tools and technology that boost student learning

Apollo believes that keeping staff and students in a comfortable learning environment is a key factor in the success of the teachers delivering excellent lesson plans and the students reaching their maximum potential. Grantham Elementary is one of the buildings in the district that received a modernization in 1999 but has become a priority over the past few years with classroom spaces and hallways not maintaining adequate heat and ventilation. The facility improvement measures in this phase of work consisted of a Boiler and Pump Retrofit, as well as an HVAC and Controls System Retrofit. Apollo replaced the existing 21-year-old non-condensing Bryan hot water boiler and its pumps with (2) premium efficiency, Lochinvar Condensing Hot Water Boilers sized at 60% of the peak heating load, and a primary/secondary variable volume hot water pumping system. Apollo also replaced all existing 4-Pipe Unit Ventilators with new 4-Pipe ceiling suspended Fan Coil Units. We replaced all existing dampers with new dampers and actuators as well as installed all-new controls on the fan coil units. Flushed the heating and cooling water loops for improved performance from the piping and existing corridor convector coils. Specified fan coil units will have a diffuser and duct extended into the corridor to add conditioned airflow to that space to solve the hallway HVAC issue expressed by the school.
